Halftrack time

Hiya folks,

I've started working on Trumpeter's M-16 halftrack a couple weeks ago, this is actually an M-16A2 ver. due to the rear door added, Thank you Ken for pointing this out to me. Much appreciated. Which took place sometimes between later part of 1944 to mid 1945... they were widley seen during the 50's during the Korean war. This kit though will be modeld after a unit that saw action in late to mid 44/45. I'll get into the specifics of the unit later on prior to the completed build. So here we have the box art and let Me tell ya the box is huge.. I orderd the kit from http://www.spruebrothers.com/ great place to pick up all you hobby needs and they run daily specials and have a huge selection for the hobbiest
Next up photo wise is the parts lay out.. alot of plastic and some rubber added 1 photo etch fret is included as well as some rope and chain along with the decals. Each of the bags holds two sprues of plastic, the tire and track sections drive sprocket and return roller are boxed up all nice an tight which I laid out for the photo. The frame is made of two cast metal sections pretty sturdy stuff
Photo ref for this vech come from real steel vech located on Ft.Hood in Tx, just a few min drive from where I live..and thanks to Scott H. museum director for letting Me open her up an crawl around and on the halftrack. My two other main ref are coming from "A Histor of American Semi-Tracked Vechiles by R.P. Hunnicutt * a wealth of info in this book* as well as ref CD's from Chris Hughes aka Toadman www.toadmanstankpictures.com CD's are M2A1 Halftrack, M-16 MGMC.
on a side note..sure wish they'd allow for more posting of photos lol I may just end up giving you the link to My PhotoBucket page so you can see everything as it's going on instead...probly alot easier on you viewers.

New figure completed for the New Year

Hello Campers,

I trust that everyone had a great Christmas with their family ?? right.. good... Now take a moment and think of the troops who are over in countrys that are hostile... say a prayer for them that they can come home soon and be done with this BS....

well I finished another figure...

Saqqara from SolarWind production a great kit, very well sculpted and super great detail. I had only 1 tiny problem with this model kit.... The resin was very porous, this means that the resin had many open areas that would just soak up liquid putty and believe Me.. the lil bitch drank alot of it. But after really slapping her silly with the putty... it started to pay off. WoooHooo right... wrong....4 days straight of filling, sanding, filling sanding.. then using Mr. Surfacer 500 every 4 hours for the 3rd day... finaly got her level and smooth. so by the end of the 4th day I was ready to chunk her sweet lil ass as far as I could throw it.... then I recall how much I spent on her ass.... soooo I didn't lol

I'm not going to go into super detail about the build seeing as how I'm sure you'd rather see the photos. All colors were acrylic paints.. some from Folk Art, Com-Art now the gold area's on this lovely ladys outfit was done with a Gold Leafing product. Was great stuff and lays down real nice.

Now if you wish to see all the WIP stuff... check out PhotoBucket... look up WhiteHorse03
plenty of WIP in there... feel free to leave comments or questions.. I'll try to answer ASAP

This is the End

Ok, so I've finaly broke down... I've started a blog page. I don't know why I've put this off for sooooooo long , but *meh* I'm here now..

Ok so a little about Me I guess is what some of you might want to know and if you don't.... well don't read this. *chuckles*

Names Chris... or ya stick around long enough and become a Friend you'll find out the nickname.... I'm around 30 something or other... Still very much a kid at heart. Married to a lovely young lady from the land down under. YES !!! she still has a thick accent which I adore... she's a super awesome cook...( it shows ). we've been together almost 2 years now, she is into pretty much everything that I am into... which isn't alot but what it is... IT'S AWESOMENESS.

Ok so I build scale models, you know the plastic kits you see in stores... hmm ok well you might not anymore... you would have to go to a hobby shop... ya know like Planes, Ships, Tanks, Cars that sort of thing... Mostly I build Military related subjects... this would be from firearms* if there is a kit of it* all the way up to the Huge airplanes that are in use today.

Aside from building models for Myself I do commission works, I have done some for a couple Military Museums * latest work was for the 1st CAV Div. on Ft.Hood in Tx, Stryker with slatarmor, Buffalo, Humvee* as well also doing models for private collectors or for the average joe who just doesn't have the time or room to build or for any reason they don't do it.. I'm glad to help out...

So here I am wrote all this out... now I need to get a recharge an grab a can of My Fav beverage.... can you guess ?

So anyways... I'm out... see ya next time I have something to say or post, which I will be posting photos an stuff like that so you can see what is going on in My crazy dinning room ... errr I mean work room...
